The collaboration between The Atlantic Trio and Maarten Koningsberger got off to a
flying start during recordings for a cd of music by Charles and Adolphe Beckand. That
was so inspiring that it led to a series of concerts featuring Scottish and Irish folk song
in the original adaptations for just such an ensemble by Beethoven. Other great composers
who wrote songs based on folk music were added: Brahms, Ravel and Butterworth.
Some of their compositions are the original settings, others have been arranged for
piano trio and baritone by Bas Verheijden. The recurring demand for a recording of the
programme resulted in the present cd. We hope you enjoy it!
